Kim Weinstein is a feminist makeup artist and a writer. She was born and raised in New York City by her mother who, Kim says, set her on a path of creativity by making her childhood room an art studio. Kim received her certificate in make-up artistry from the Robert Fiance Beauty School and embarked on a career in beauty. She took a break to attend Hunter College where she was graduated magna cum laude with a degree in creative writing. Putting her work history and her education to work, Kim wrote the book Pretty City: New York - The Ultimate Guide to Beauty. Her experience ranges from her work on the Weekend Today Show on NBC to a position as Resident Make-up Artist at Saks Fifth Avenue to working privately with women as individual clients. She is currently working on her second book about makeup and the everyday woman.

I am honoring Kim Weinstein in the Womenís Plaza of Honor because she chose to bring joy into the life of my son, Michael Thompson, as his wife. Kim has also brought joy into all our lives not only by her presence in my sonís and our familyís lives but also because she blessed us with the birth of our grandson, Jacob. In the often noisy and frenetic world of New York City, Kim has partnered with Michael to create a home for the three of them that offers respite, play, a wonderful view, sunshine, creative space and love. She is a talented cook, often putting together plates of colorful vegetables and other good things to eat at a momentís notice and challenges all of us to eat more healthily. In addition to fulfilling the often demanding roles of wife, mother, daughter, daughter-in-law, and friend, Kim has managed to carve out important time for herself. She isnít afraid to try new things, such as completing and being graduated from the two-year acting program of the William Esper Studio in New York City and then actually getting out there in front of people as a stand-up comic! As a talented make-up artist who has worked with well-known entertainment industry stars, she often rises very early in the morning to make her way to television studios to enhance the faces of familiar folk to many of us who watch morning news programs. She generously has given of her skill and time to friends who are getting married and their wedding parties and has traveled as far as Argentina to do that. And, she still finds time to manage a website and work on her next (of many, we hope) book. It isnít easy to do all of this and still find time for oneself. Thank you, Kim, for all that you do!
